Every year, the MFO hosts 5 researchers, about 15 affiliated and associate researchers, as well as 10 Master's and doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers. Its staff supports the researchers' work and takes part in the organisation of conferences, seminars and workshops.

The MFO welcomes other researchers through a range of scholarships and visiting fellowships.
