Organised as part of the DEVILL project (Digital Exploration and Computer Vision for Illuminations) led by Marion Charpier (École nationale des chartes - PSL)
This one-day international workshop brings together researchers from the École nationale des chartes - PSL, the University of Oxford and the Université Paris Nanterre to explore the expanding role of artificial intelligence and computer vision in the study and preservation of cultural heritage collections.
The workshop is organised as part of the DEVILL project (Digital Exploration and Computer Vision for Illuminations), led by Marion Charpier (École nationale des chartes - PSL) in partnership with the Visual Geometry Group at the University of Oxford and the PictorIA-HumaNum consortium. It takes place during a research residency at Oxford and in collaboration with the Maison Française d'Oxford.
The event will address three main issues:
- AI and Medieval Manuscripts: computer vision approaches across Western, Eastern and illustrated traditions
- AI for Heritage Collections: tools, methods and challenges for description and long-term preservation
- Medieval Afterlives: the persistence of medieval figures from manuscript culture to the digital age
