In a world flooded by breaking news - and increasingly avoiding it - can we reimagine the way we use words and pictures to reinvite conversations about events that matter? Join National Geographic photographer Michael Christopher Brown to discuss his upcoming collaboration with Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha The Difference Between Bullets and Stones, which unites Mosab's poems from Gaza with Michael's photographs from the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The book and fundraising project illuminates the grief, resilience, and vitality of Palestinian life. We will ask: how do we ask people to keep listening to stories that make them feel helpless? How do we illustrate news that few have the courage to see any more of? Will mass media ever recover the trust it lost in telling this story? And will the splintered news influencer ecosystem remain sustainable?
