Guillaume Lachenal

Guillaume Lachenal is a Professor of History at the médialab, Sciences Po, Paris. He specialises in the history of science, the history of medicine, and the emerging field of planetary health. He studies the relationships between human health, environmental change, and global political transformations, with a particular focus on the history and anthropology of epidemics in colonial and post-colonial Africa. He published two monographs, The Lomidine Files: The Untold Story of a Medical Disaster in Colonial Africa (Johns Hopkins University Press) and The Doctor Who Would Be King (Duke University Press). He is a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. 

He stays in Oxford at Nuffield College with the OxPo exchange program, conducting exploratory research at the history of medicine/ planetary health interface.
