'AI in the Service of the Law - or the Law in the Service of AI?'

This lecture explores the growing connections between artificial intelligence and the law. It examines how AI is already transforming legal practice - including research, document analysis, drafting, contract management, and litigation - while presenting the main tools currently used by legal professionals.

The lecture also addresses the European Union's legal framework governing these uses, notably the GDPR, the AI Act, the Digital Markets Act, and the Digital Services Act, as well as the major ethical issues surrounding algorithmic bias, liability, data protection, and fundamental rights. An essential reflection on the opportunities, limitations, and sovereignty challenges raised by the rise of AI in the legal field.
